Projects and Specialties
We believe in investing time and money into Specialty Contexts and Resource Innovation to fuel the growth of Alpha in all areas across Canada. You can view all of our specialties and current projects below for more information on how to support Alpha.
Caring for Inmates
The first Alpha for Prisons was started in 1995, and today 42% of Canadian prisons run Alpha. In Canada, the rate of re-offence drops significantly when released offenders have taken Alpha and connected with a local church community. For inmates, experiencing Alpha in prison not only helped transform their lives, but it also it renews their hope and helps prepare them to begin a new life outside prison doors.
Reaching the next generation
Canada’s Christian youth community is shrinking like never before. Since 1984, the percentage of teens who call themselves Christian has been cut in half. We could not have anticipated the response to the Alpha Youth Film Series that launched in the Fall of 2013. Since then, almost 70,000 teens in Canada experienced the series. Also, in 2016 alone, there were approximately 90 student-led Alphas that took place across Canada. We are excited to see more teens wanting to run Alpha with and for their friends.
